About

Marya Morrison BAHSc-AT, CAT(C), D.O.P.M, D.Sc.O

Hi there,

Welcome to Basic Motion Therapy and thank you for taking some time  to learn more about me. I have been a Certified Athletic Therapist for 13 years, a business owner for 11, a farmer's wife for 7, a mom and an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner for the past 5 years. As you can see I wear many hats, all of which I love.

My background in Athletic Therapy has allowed me the opportunity to work with many elite athletes, active individuals and recreational health nuts of all levels. Over the years I have had the privilege to work with the varsity teams and athletes at the University of Guelph as well as National and International athletes from across the globe.

After graduating from the Athletic Therapy program at Sheridan College and entering into my professional career, I quickly decided I wanted to add "more tools to my toolbox", in order to become a better therapist. Many of my teachers in the Sheridan program were also Osteopathic Manual Practitioners at the time, so I naturally gravitated toward wanting more of those tools.

Although my desire to attend Osteo College stemmed simply from a need for more techniques to use with my patients, it provided so much more. The 5 year program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto proved to be an enormous education in the human body and its functions as well as an expanded appreciation of the natural processes of life, self understanding and the overall meaning of health.

Completing my research thesis and defending it during the first year of motherhood was again an opportunity to grown into a new role and was an exhausting reminder of what can be accomplished with the right amount of commitment, passion and support from those around you. In November 2015 I graduated with my Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice, my Diploma in Science of Osteopathy (D.Sc.O), and my 7 month old son in my arms.

My formal education has given me many effective tools to use when working with patients of all kinds, and my life experiences and focus has given me the ability to appreciate the magnitude of what is possible when the right perspective and support is available. By combining my knowledge of the human body and its mechanics with my passion for natural wholistic practices, I'm so excited to assist you reach your individual health, wellness and life goals.

If you have made it this far I thank you so much for your time and interest.  Feel free to book an appointment below or if you have some questions please contact me so we can connect.

I would love to hear from you!
